McCarty is 90 years old and a short time since he walked from Cloverdale to
Spring Cave, a distance of 12 miles in about 4 hours and in a few days walked
back.

Aaron McCarty, father of
Cornelius McCarty, three miles south of Cloverdale, left his son’s residence
one night last week about 8 o’clock and did not return until the next morning.
Searching parties were out looking for him all night but were unable to find
him. He is 97 years of age and had on no
coat or hat when he left. The night was damp and chilly, but he returned in his
usual health and has suffered no inconvenience since. He said that he had been
at a relatives some eight miles distant, but it is the general impression that
he did not go but a short distance.
